Most grocery stores carry a variety called Cassia. A variety that is less expensive to harvest and is darker in colour which expresses bitter notes during cooking. At Cha’s we carry the Ceylon variety native to Sri Lanka known as “True Cinnamon”. True Cinnamon is considerably softer in texture, sweeter in taste and lighter in colour. They also differ greatly in coumarin content and health benefits.

A bloated, leaky or dented can with a strong foul odour and drastic color change is not fit for consumption and should be discarded.

If there is no bloating nor smell and simply a change in texture, the coconut milk has likely been frozen but is safe to consume.

Our coconut milks, exotic fruits and, turmeric latte are Kosher certified by Kosher Check and have the accompanying Kosher logo on the product labels. Our spices are Kosher certified at source which is not yet indicated on the labels.

The water is sourced from deep wells located on the farms where our coconuts are harvested. After the water is collected, it is filtered, heat sterilized then filtered once more before being combined with the coconut.

Our cans are lined with a polyester resin which does not contain titanium, BPA, nor related compounds, such as BADGE, BPF or BPS. This is a safer lining which functions well with the PH of our products.
